I'm here!!! Very excited to have finally got to Malaysia...after what seemed like a mammoth journey to Langkawi after a 12 hour flight trapped behind the man with the reclining chair, the lady next to me with serious bladder issues, the crying baby and the breakdown of all in-flight entertainment the whole way!

All of that aside I love Langkawi, it is a wicked island, so chilled and laid back it was a perfect choice for the first stop all alone with a head full of anxiety and nervous energy :-)

The beach is stunning, long stretches of gorgeous white sand and loads of water sports to be getting along with. Given that it is rainy season and when I arrived in the dark the receptionist handed me a load of rainy day activities I have been really, really lucky - sunshine every single day with the exception of the storm that started to brew on the last afternoon.

Hotel is lush, glad I treated myself for the first stop - call me a Princess but I couldn't step away from a certain amount of luxury straight away!!! Bit far away from centre of town but I was quite happy with my sunbed, sand, sea and lots of books. Oh and not to forget that beer is actually cheaper than water at the beach bar - needless to say I have spent a lot of time in the bar being giggled at by the girl working there who says everyone from London speaks too quickly....she's probably right.

Had a pedicure on my last night - v strange - was done by a Thai guy, I'm not sure who was more embarrassed about it, me or him. I also discovered I have very ticklish feet!

5 days here was plenty and I 'm really looking forward to getting to Gili Islands in Indoneisa and doing some diving, meeting some other people and properly starting my big adventure :-)
