I ventured from Pokhara to Chitwan National Park. I spent two days and two nights here and they were to be jam packed!
When I arrived I was greeted by the hotelier from the bus and directed towards his jeep. The jeep then took me to my lodge and there I was debriefed on the visit's events.
First on the list was a trip to the museum, just a short walk away. It was surreal to say the least where the exhibition boasted foetal corpes and genitalia remains. Next stop was the elephant breeding centre, no baby elephants were being born though. After this my guide walked me to the riverside where I watched the sunset over the river and jungle. Later that eveing I was taken to a tribal dance perfromed by the people of the village.
The second day of my stay began with a canoe ride along the River Rapti. It was hoped that we'd see crocodiles and maybe even the rare breed of dolphin that has been spotted in the river, Unfortunately, all I managed was a kingfisher, a peacock and a hyena. A jungle walk followed the canoe ride and potentially I could have seen tigers, rhinos and elephants, again I wasn't so lucky (or I was lucky, depending on how you view it) and all I saw were deer, another peacock and the tail of a crocodile on a log sunning itself!
After the walk in the jungle I was taken to another part of the river where elephant owners bring their pets to be bathed! The elephants had so much fun in the water - it was great to see. Later on in the afternoon I was to embark on the highlight of my trip; an elephant safari into the jungle. What a highlight it was - I saw rhinos in the wild; the elephant went right upto them. I saw five all in all including a mother and her baby.
