Well Hello to you all again,
Hope you are well??!!
So we headed to the paradise island of Koh Phi Phi about 2 hours on a boat from Phuket. This was my second visit to Phi Phi but Claire's first. We arrived and I was feeling extremely sea sick! We didn't have anywhere booked to stay so we were bombarded by touts straight away. We found a nice resort next door to where I stayed before with a pool which was an added bonus.
Ok, so what did we do? Well Im afraid to say, not much. This was our last stop in Thailand before heading back to city life, so we literally did nothing in the daytimes other than sun ourselves by the pool. We occasionally walked the 10 steps to the beach for a swim and then back the 10 steps to our sunbeds. We had to make the most of the last few days of sun to top up the tans!!!
Koh Phi Phi really is stunning, with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear blue water. There are two islands which make up Koh Phi Phi, they are Phi Phi Don which is where we stayed and also Phi Phi Lay. Koh Phi Phi was made famous a few years ago as it was the island where the film 'The Beach' was filmed. The main beach in the film is on Phi Phi Lay, and is called Maya Beach. It really is as amazing as it looks in the film. One day we did venture off our sunbeds (aren't we clever) on an afternoon/sunset boat trip. We headed to monkey beach but there were no monkeys so we didn't stay there, we went straight round to Maya Beach. We spent about an hour here just lazing in the water and snapping away with the camera!! Next we got back on the boat and were able to go sea kayaking and snorkeling. We kayaked around the limestone caves of Phi Phi Lay and got to see some really brightly coloured fish whilst snorkeling. We watched the sunset from the boat over the sea.
Whilst we were on the island I was walking around and bumped into some people who I know from home. Some of you will know who they are, Kathy, Amber and Roxy Pearce, Stacey Bartholomew and Dave Horsemon. Very strange to be that far away from home and still see people we know (very small world). The girls were working out there in the Reggae bar so we went there a couple of nights for a few bevvies!! We went out a few nights out whilst here, starting with good food (yes Grant we are still eating - cant you see!!!!) and then good cocktails! On our last night the girls finished their jobs a night early and we all went out. They took us to the bars which had happy hour and good offers on. We drank far to much, with beer, sangsom whiskey (including buckets), vodka, sambuca and tequila all being consumed.
We had such a lovely time on Phi Phi and both of us were very sad to be leaving. The beach and the scenery really is paradise. I took far too many pictures of the beach, but I cant forget how amazing it is.
We spent one night in Phuket town, but did nothing here and there is nothing to do anyway. We made the most of having a TV with a movie channel, so watched a film and had an early night.
So, we have finished our stint in Thailand. We have had a great time and really enjoyed spending time here. Very sad to be leaving the beautiful beaches. Next on to city life once again (its going to come as a great shock to me as I have got so used to doing nothing-lazy I know!!).
Ok, until next time.
Take care
Lots of Love to you all
Carly and Claire
