Mmmmm rain.
Guess that might please some of you, after all my bragging of perfect weather it decided to rain on my last day in Amsterdam. Usually this would annoy me somewhat but considering i've spent most of this trip slightly sticky due to the European heat and humidity the rain was somewhat welcome. Just not while I was waiting in line for the Anne Frank House, which was worth the wait i gotta say. A bit spooky in that it seems to make the events of her life a bit more real to actually see the house she hid in.
Had a crappy nights sleep thanks to some very loud snoring from the people in my room but still managed to wake up and get to my first Busabout bus. Very comfortable but crowded bus trip and we were in Berlin by 5:30pm. Had to walk to my hostel (Wombats Berlin) which was a bit of a hike with all my bags in tow, but still a good choice. Nice room, great rooftop bar and full of lovely people to hang out with. Last night was 4th July so all our American friends were being pretty loud and joyous in the bar, but at least i slept well.
Missed out on a city bike tour today due to the fact im finding it hard to read maps without streets named and such, but now i've got the lay of the land hope tomorrow will be more successful. Better find the meeting point since it's also where the Busabout spot will collect me from in a couple of days, and really can't be missing that bus.....
So with my day free I took myself off to Berlin Zoo and spent a day with the animals. Took some animals pics which I'll upload as soon as i remember to take me cable with me to the wifi zone. Even got to visit Knut, the polar bear that was rejected by his mother. I'm sure you remember all the cute baby pics, he's now a VERY big boy.
Tonight I'm heading off to the Reichstag to climb up the dome, i'm told that the views at night are amazing, even if there is a bit of a queue. Then the bike tour take two and on the bus again.

Tara Nice blog Carls, a few comments as usual - it is hard to shut me up. Actually I think i'm trying to work through my jealousy via this banter. As I read about you in the Anne Frank house I immediately realised how suited you would have been to the Anne Frank lifestyle. Although unlikely you would have found yourself in her position, not being Jewish, and having blonde hair and blue eyes. But as a child you did love to hide and get yourself into very small areas. Hiding in little boxes, up trees etc was your specialty. Did you get a chance to check out where Anne hid? Did you get comfy? I"m also glad you got to the Zoo, did Chuck get to reunite with some other bears? He does need time to socialise with his own species. I hope he features in some pics soon. As for the rest of your trip, i'm jealous jealous jealous, but I think i've already mentioned that. But I better scoot, time for work, grrr xxx Tarz
Victor Von Flugenband Yah, Das is very interesting. I especially like the story about the lady who hid in her shoe. Although, she must have been a very small lady. Good good. Keep up your writing journal. Remember to try the schweinhaxen... delicious.
Robyn Nice one Carlz, A whole lot more comfortable now that you are done with wandering through the red light district of Amsterdam and entombing yourself under water. Stay safe, missing you.xxxxMummy
