We arrived in Nha Trang city at 8.30pm and after checking into our hotel we headed out to fill our main priority, our stomachs. We went to an Indian restaurant and had a delicious meal, so far the food in Vietnam has been excellent and not let us down. The hotel was under renovation, which meant we had a really nice room with king size bed, but it also meant the work started at 6am, so it was like being on 'Carry on Abroad'.
The next day it was Pete and I's 3 yr anniversary which coincided with a boat trip round Nha Trang bay. It was a gloriously hot day, so we were all looking forward to a splash in the sea. First we visited a nearby island and fishing village, where we informed about village life and the illegal cock-fighting. When it was time to head back to the boat we took the traditional method of bamboo conical boat, it was good fun, especially when they told us it was made out of bamboo and manure.
Next we went to an area of the sea with stunning coral reefs and dived into the water for some snorkelling. It was so lovely to cool off after spending the morning in 35 degree heat. We had a lovely lunch before heading to our private beach. Well it was our private beach for about 2 hours until 2 more boat loads of tourists turned up.
It was a fantastic day, with no sun burn, but lots of fun. To top it all off Pete took me to the Sailing Club for dinner, we had some amazing food and even a bottle of wine, the white chocolate cheese cake was heaven. We met up with the rest of the group for some more drinks, by now I was feeling rather tipsy and perhaps looked it (you can judge for yourselves). We ended up back at the Sailing club this time for some serious dancing and even a limbo, where I smacked my knee on the floor. Obviously at the time I didn't notice it, but the next day the bruise was evident enough. We staggered back to the hotel around 2am and Pete found a live Arsenal match on so watched that, while I fell straight to sleep. It was a cracking day.
The next day of course we were not up to much other than laying on the beach and chilling out. We witnessed a stunning storm head our way, before running in to the nearest bar to shelter from the terrential rain. That night it was time to say goodbye to Nha Trang and board our five star sleeper train to Saigon (I think even Mum and Tanya would have approved of the train).
