26th - 27th Singapore

The flight from Bangkok was relatively quick, got in a funny film. Arrived in Singapore evening and got the immaculately clean metro almost direct to our hostel, which was a bit of luck as we had booked the hostel through the website and didn't have a clue how far it was from any public transport etc. Also another reason it was a stroke of luck, was that we had accumulated so much stuff (snorkel masks and other unnecessary stuff you always pick up), our bags were as heavy as we could carry.

Well, we had two days to spend looking around and maybe doing some shopping. We got an early night, or Vik did until she woke up around 12am and found Carl downstairs watching the footy with some Singaporeans, drinking Guiness and lager mix.

Our day was spent going around all the shopping centres, as it seems this is what Singapore is, one big spanky shopping centre. Could have done the cultural thing but it was so hot and humid that we couldn't venture outside for more than 5 mins.

One of the things that Singapore is famous for is electronics, so we found Siam Square Shooping Centre, which was around 5/6 storeys of electronical goods. Carl almost bought a Macbook, but ended up leaving with just a memory card - Oh the big spenders!

It was just after that went to arrange meeting up with Evan (friend from Koh Samui who's at college here). We thought we had time to kill before meeting him so sat and had a drink. We discussed what we were going to do the next day when it dawned on us that the flight was actually that evening. Although it said the 28th January, it was only 30 mins into 28th January. What a shock it was for us to realise we could have missed the flight, so we had to cancel meeting Evan and had to go back, pack and get back to the airport, which we'd only just left 24 hours ago.

Singapore was a lovely place for shopping, very clean, with good shops and would recommend for a stop over if you're after something. Unfortunately, just an afternoon isn't quite long enough.
