We set off today in Zambezi our huge converted truck - 17 of us on the overland trip at the start, with our guide/cook and driver, Miriki and Richard. First stop was the great rift valley then on to Lake Nakuru, surrounded by thousands of flamingos. We game drove through Nakuru national park, seeing giraffes, rhino, buffalo loads of birds and were attacked by monkeys when we stopped for lunch. They have NO FEAR and are a bloody pain in the ass!!! Tonight we bush camped in the park - no facilities and very little sleep as we hear the jackals and buffalo throughout the night! the next morning we set off back through the park on another game drive before stopping in the town of Nakuru for supplies. This was quite hard - we were mobbed by beggars and followed round the shops but I now realise (a few days later) that this is something I will have to deal with so im learning day by day. The roads start to get pretty bad this afternoon and we are all pretty tired so its a great suprise and pleasure when we arrive at the super luxury campsite (Naiberi overland stop in eldoret) for the next night!! Swimming pool, cool bar and I stay in what looks a bit like a tree house .... I also drink way too much considering dehydrated but we are all getting along and getting to know each other and its a great night :) Just updating (25/9) with a few extra notes so i don't forget anyone - my fellow truckers are as follows: Pamela (Italy), Hattie, Aimee and Tracy (New York/Hong kong) - my 3 gals, Helen and Matt from Uuup North, Kwi and Shaun (Belgium), Suiha (Hong kong), Tom and Francis, Jo and Kevin (US), Nick (Barbados - ha ha and yes i recognise him!!!), Mark, Sarah .... I think thats everyone (later joined for trakking my Row, Dee and Rob and Kate who has been working in Uganda ;)
