From Cuzco there are lots of different tours you can do of the numerous Inca sites in the area. We opted for a full tour of the Sacred Valley and spent a day out with our tour guide Ali. It was kind of like a training day for the Inca trail as we hiked across sites. The highlights were the ruins above Pisaq and Ollyotytambo and the truelly sensational market in Pisaq town where you can get any handicrafts or jewellry your little heart desires!! We spent the night at Ollytytambo in a great little hotel that had our first fully functional bathroom in weeks- heaven and just what you need before heading off to the shower free Inca trail for 4 days!! All our group got together in the evening and based on Ali's advice we headed off into the small market at Ollyotytambo and bought walking sticks. We think it must have been the altitude but as we sat drinking our cervesa we came up with the group name b******os con Bastoness which is basically b******s with sticks - just don't ask just be assured that it was very very funny at the time!! That altitude has a lot to answer for!!
