We came here for one purpose only and that was to see those weird and wonderful lines in the desert. The only way to see them though is by plane because they are soooo big!! So we had breakfast at the hotel drew some dollars out of the ATM and got all excited for our trip. Pete sat next to the pilot because he had the longest legs much to the rest of the travellers horror as he desperately wanted to push all the buttons. He kept turning round exclaiming at how many and how shiny they all were - yes very calming!! Anyway 6 of us including the pilot squashed in and set off. No safety speach no nothing!! It's ok our tour leader had advised us these guy will never crash cos they are all ex narcotic smugglers from the jungle - oh good oh!! So we weren't in the least bit phased when our pilot turned around mid flight to give us a wee speech on where to look out for the lines - none of the eyes straight ahead for him. Caroline was taking notes so that next time she is in her car she can apply her make up without using any hands at all.... The lines were awesome. Piccies of them in the album. The turbulence was extraordinary as we hopped about on a wing and a prayer. Caroline turned a wonderful colour of green and sheer will power kept the contents of her stomach in place. The landing was more of a skid than a glide but we lived to tell our tale and had a truely great experience. With all that adrenalin being dumped on our system surely we would sleep on the night bus tonight as we headed for Arequipa and the Colca Canyon.......
