We headed to Wellington this morning which is about a 5 hour drive. By the time we got here we were so exhausted from all of our activities we decided to spoil ourselves and head straight to Oriental Bay to soak up some rays. Its been a nightmare getting online so I think I am now all up to date now. Heading South tomorrow on the ferry to Picton. We were going to drive the South Island but have decided to stay with the tour as we are really enjoying it.

Today we signed up to do the Tongariro crossing which is a 7 hour hike up a very steep mountain through dormant volcanoes. The weather was perfect and the hike was hell but well worth it! First hurdle was the devils stairs which is basically volcanic rocks we had to climb up and over. When you finally reach the top you look down into the flattened crater of the volcanoe. Today we headed out towards Rotarua. Stopping on the way at Huka FallsRotarua is very smelly due to the geothermal activity. We spent some time in town then went to a off the beaten track pool for some thermal bathing. After that we went to see some mud bubbling. From there we headed to Taupo to go skydiving. This morning we headed to Maketu but stopped on the way in Waitomo to see its famous caves and glow worms. Emma and I decided to be adventurous and go Black Water rafting. The entailed us getting suited up in a wet suit with a helmet and head torch. We were woken by Stew early to depart Hahei and head to Raglan. Raglan is a small surf community on the coast with one of the most famous surf spots in NZ. Our hostel was located on the hill and I signed up for Surf camp. After a short introduction and some dry land lessons we headed to the beach.
