Aden - Yemen Tuesday 9th March to Sunday 14th March 2010Having settled the anchor we were just relaxing when we realised a large fishing vessel close by had broken from its aft mooring and was swinging too close, so moved nearer to the very modern quay. There is an impressive building with a large archway which was built as the arrival point for cruise ships in days gone by. Oman to Yemen 'Pirate Alley' Thursday 4th March to Tuesday 9th March 2010 We experienced many new things in Oman, e.g. it is the first Arabic, Muslim, country we have visited so most women are wearing the black burka but not all have their faces covered. The burka here is also quite decorative with the head veil very elaborately wound around huge hair do's giving a unique shape. Arrived safely in Aden on 9th March after 5 days at sea through Somalian pirate alley. We joined a convoy of 19 other yachts of all nations. The highest risk seemed to be colliding with another boat at night. Tempers often were frayed but most of us made up on arrival at Aden. Our next leg is to Eritrea in the Red Sea. Gordon and Anne

Sri Lanka, India and Oman Sunday 14th January 2010 - Sri Lanka After a journey of nine days we arrived at Galle Harbour at 10.00hrs (changed clocks from UT +7 to UT +5.1/2 hrs). The journey saw variable winds and tidal streams, as well as a couple of suspicious vessels at night, showing strange or no lights and too close.
