I managed to keep the surprise from Boo for over 2 weeks. With her asking if she needed to pack her head torch, I thought it best I tell her so she doesn't pack incorrectly.... The aunties advised that we buy our alcohol and decant it into sprite bottles....took me right back to my London days where I didn't leave home without a wee bottle of smirnoff tasting "water" in my handbag! So, bags were packed, by 8am, we were in the car headed for Port Canaveral.
We were able to board the boat at midday - which is when we started drinking....mind you, at $25 for 4 beers, we didn't drink much more beer, instead the "water" came out....we lazed in the sun all afternoon before finally setting sail at 5pm. The 1st night we all got really exctied and proceeded to get very drunk! Boo and I stayed in the jacuzzi and met a whole hoard of people which we remaind friends with throughout the cruise. The Aunties learnt about "tuck and roll" as Boo demonstrated across the bar floor whilst an art auction was going on - Cindy and the Phillipino bar lady wondered if Boo had perhaps had a fit and collapsed after too much sun....alak no, just the wife on vodka. I at this point couldn't actually make it out the hot tub...assistance was required! I hadn't realised that I had been in there for so long and drinking the amt of vodka I had, meant "I karent feel my legs"! Anyhoo, after a fun night of tuck and rolls, me falling out the hot tub, the aunties winning big time in the casino and a photo shoot with the professsional photogrpahers, we thought it best to go to bed!
Friday midday - we arrived at Nassau island, Bahama's. WOW! it was such a gorgeous site approaching the port, so blue! Immigration was a laugh - alot of "aeiry" and "bacon man" was over heard...just love the Carribean accent! I couldn't sleep the night before for panicing they were going to not let Boo in....but she sailed through. We got ourselves into a taxi and headed for Paradise island. Another Wow, the beach was to die for....literally - The waves were colossal...I've never seen such big waves which is unheard of in the Bahama's. The turquoise water was extremely inviting, but low and behold, the undercurrents almost took our Aunties from us as they performed the most spectacular "tuck and roll's" into and under the sea!! We thought we had seriously lost them! I had 911 ready on the dial....after about 10 seconds they surfaced with about and islands worth of sand in each costume! they had to sit for a bit to calm their nerves! A quick drink sorted everything out. We then got back in the taxi to take us to a beach with smaller waves! this is where we spent the rest of the afternoon. Just heavenly. We boarded the ship again at about 6pm. We had dinner and were in bed by 10pm - it's tiring being in the sun all day!
After dragging the wife out of bed at 5.30am to watch sun rise, Saturday involved another blissful day on deck whilst we sailed slowly back to Port Canaveral. Boo did not move from her lounger. I of course did, to get food. The aunties gambled a bit and chilled.
Sunday morning involved another early morning, where all non US citizens had to be ushered like cattle into a lounge where immigration officials board the ship and check all passports. We were asked where we met, we said London, to which the very gay looking immigrations' lady looked up, winked, and said she needs to get to London!!
Exhausted, we arrived home at mid day on sunday. What a fantastic time with Cindy and Sharon, we did not stop laughing for 3 days! Thank you Aunties for taking time off work to play with us.
This was just a little taste of the Caribbean, we will most defs be back, hopefully on P!nks yatch as her crew...
