As I am writing this, we are coming to the end of our second trip to Phuket, Thailand and the end of our successful dental journey. We have been happy with our results and can recommend AB Dental to anyone wanting dental work done.
This second trip, we have had more of a holiday and did more of the touristy things as we didn't need to spend quite so much time at the dentists. We did a day trip to "James Bond" island, where "The man with the golden gun" was partly filmed. We visited the "Tiger Kingdom" and patted a large tiger, rode an elephant and visited temples. Chris spent a day at a Thai cooking school and I went parasailing. We've had some amazing massages (only $8 for one hour) and a facial. We've ridden in a tuk tuk, long boat, speed boat, taxis, mini bus and a people mover that's more like a cattle truck! We've eaten in many different restaurants but our favourite has to be "No. 6, up the hill" That's where the cattle truck comes in as you get a free ride there and back from their other restaurant in town. Same good food and great prices but a much nicer setting and the time and space to enjoy it. For a evening drink, great sunsets and more good food, we spent a few hours at the "Sol Mio" sunset bar, only a couple of hundred metres from our hotel, the "White Sands Resortel" BHT1200 ($47) a night for two, including breakfast!!
As we head back homeward, I'm now reminded of all our memories of Darwin from the last four months. The days passed so quickly, and we never once got bored. We've met some great people, made good friends who we will hopefully keep in touch with. We kept up with our aquarobics which I am missing now!. We spent a day at the races, watched the Darwin Cup race and lost a few dollars! We also celebrated a big milestone this year, 40 years of marriage. Chris spoilt me with breakfast at the cafe and flowers, followed by a lovely day out in Darwin. The next day we celebrated again at happy hour with a great get together, good food and celebration cake. Any excuse!!
We went to the local rodeo at Noonamah and had a very good evening. Although a smallish arena, there was a lot happening and easily seen while the events moved along quickly from bull riding, bucking Broncos, junior event, motor cycle acrobatics and car burnouts.
We've enjoyed spending time with my brother John and sister in law, Vicki who are now managing the Big 4 at Howard Springs and where our van is now.
We left Tumbling Waters and went to Howard Springs to spend a couple of days with John and Vicki before our overseas adventure and again on our return we have spent a couple more days here. We joined in the Melbourne Cup celebrations with The staff and friends at The Howard Springs Big 4 yesterday and are now getting ready to make the long journey across and down this huge country.
From Darwin NT to Tweed NSW. is about 3500 kms and will take us a good week of long days of driving. So it's time for an early start! We left at 7.30 this morning after saying our emotional farewells to John and Vicki, and are now on the road again. After all these months up here in the Northern Territory we are feeling more than a little sad to be leaving. Great place, good times and beautiful people! Till the next time, we'll miss it all.
