Arrived after a 12 hour flight into Auckland airport. Took a couple of valium on the flight and can't remember a thing! Might try that again for the 24 hour flight home.
I met up with Jamie and we spent a few days in Auckland which is awful. There is absolutely nothing to do there but we had to stay until i got my bank card sent out from home. When it arrived we booked onto the Kiwi Experience which is a tour bus that takes people to all the tourist attractions across New Zeland.
The highlights of the North Island were Rotorua, Taupo and Wellington. Taupo has an amazing huge lake in the centre of it and is surrounded by mountains. Its very picturesque and its where i did my skydive. We were there is New Zealands winter so it was cold a lot of the time. I was booked to do the skydive on 2 seperate days and it was cancelled due to bad weather. Fortunately on the day we were leaving Taupo we managed to get a spell of good weather so we jumped. The plane behind us had to turn back because the weather turned bad again so we were lucky to be the first plane up there. It was from 15,000 ft which works out as around 60 seconds free fall. Then when he opens the shoot you glide around and check out the beautiful view. Defiantely worth the money
We had all got on really well on the bus but it split up when we went from the north isand to the south. We spent 3 days in Wellington before heading down to the south island. When we arrived the bus was totally over booked so for the whole time we had 2 buses running parallel.
There is a Glacier hike in a place called Franz Josef that we did. It was just 1 huge block of ice that we climbed up. I really wanted to do this in south america but never got around to it so was happy to get the oportunity in new Zealand. It took all day and we only got half way up the Glacier. Or tour guide was a bit of a nutter and kept on trying to make new passages with his pick axe through tiny and quite clearly unstable tunnels. He managed to get everybody down in 1 piece though.
I won a pool compettion and got a 2-4-1 skydive in Queenstown. jamie had done a skydive earlier in the day and i was going to do it with him but couldn't afford it. So i was over the moon when i won this. I did it in Queenstown where you glide over a mountain range called the Remarkables. Probably preffered this 1 was the view was so spectacular.
Also did a bungy jump from in Queentown. It is called the Nevis and is 134m. Its free fall for 8 seconds and is the best buzz i have ever had. I strapped a camera to my hand and recorded it all. When the guy was giving me instructions of what to do i was fiddling with my camera making sure it worked. So i didn't hear what he was telling me about pulling the cord when i reached the bottom. After dangling 50ft from the ground for a little while i worked out what i needed to do to get back to the top. The guy was not too happy with me. Definately worth it though, the video is hilarious.
