Okay, so clearly, it's been a while ...
I've been wildly busy since I last wrote--having the time of my life--and am just now finally calming down enough to post a few updates and highlights. Let's see here.
I finally met up with Karl for dinner! Yay! That was the day after Diane left, and it was so nice to see him. Haven't seen him since, but what can ya do? lol On the 21st of June, I saw a sketch comedy show with Chris. His friend's group was performing and it was hilarious. Gotta say, though, the best part was the wrestling matches in between the shows: Alf vs. a drunken wolf, if I remember correctly. You can imagine how wonderfully entertaining that was. :-)
Since I was leaving the following week, I spent the weekend hanging out with Chris. We went to the Cloisters, which is this really neat branch of the Met, devoted to art and architecture of medieval Europe. It was so pretty there, with lots of gardens and a great view of the water. Also that weekend, we saw "Rent" on Broadway and it was amazing! I was definitely crying. The actor who played Angel was sooooo good. the whole weekend was so great though. Chris and I had so much fun together, and as we were driving through McDonalds on the way home, Chris officially asked me to be his girlfriend. How romantic, right? lol (sorry babe!) But it really was good. He's amazing. Mr. Amazing, in fact.
On the 26th, I went and saw "Avenue Q" on Broadway with a bunch of people from EHS, including my two favorite ppl: Laura and Tess. Tess moved in the weekend Diane was here and has since proven herself as the most fun girl I've ever met, with the exception of Laura, who is right up there with her. I went to Cheap Shots again with Laura and this time brought Tess and Chris. Since that day, I'm pretty sure Laura and Tess have been inseperable. lol It's hilarious to hear about their adventures of mooning the security guard, making up soap operas about the rats on Lexington Ave, and all in all just being fantastic. haha
I was definitely sad that I wouldn't get to hang out with these two lovely girls for over two weeks while I was home, but I did have an excellent time. I got to relax and hang out with my parents and my brother and his girlfriend. I was sick at first, so it was nice having my mom to nurse me back to health. Chris sent me flowers, which definitely helped, too. One day I met up with a friend from UM and we drove out to Canada for a day to hang at the beach. I saw "Transformers" with Adam and Andrea, which was soooo cool. I got to stay with Katie at her apartment in Ann Arbor for a weekend and watch all three "American Pie" movies. My little cousins continue to be the cutest little things I've ever seen. My grandma is awesome and we took her to the horse track, where she and my dad won just about every time. haha Katie and I lost every time except for the last, and ended up breaking even.
And another great part of this two-week vacation was the fact that Chris was able to fly out on Spirit Air and go camping with me and my parents. Unfortunately, his flight on July 10th was delayed four or five times before being cancelled, so he had to fly out at 6am the next morning. It was much more of an ordeal than just that, but for the sake of time, let's just say it was a pretty crushing moment. But he finally arrived and it was so great to see him. We headed out to Lake Michigan and stayed near the beach for two nights. Chris and I managed to get matching sun burn marks in the middle of our back. haha His was much worse ... my bad!
On Friday night, we had an awesome crab leg dinner with my family and Andrea and her mom. Afterward, we invited some more friends over and had a fantastic little party. It was sad to leave my little vacation spot at home with the family at the end of the two weeks, of course. Happily, my parents will be driving to pick me up in NYC in just a few more weeks. I can't wait to show them the city!
Katie and Mollie flew in for a visit on the 19th. This was ... interesting. But Chris and I finally got to go to the Met and it was so great. The rooftop exhibit was cool and the view was soooo gorgeous. Pictures to come soon. On Sunday, we all had a lot of fun, picnicing in Central Park. After that, we headed down to the South Street Seaport and took a speed boat ride called "The Shark" around Manhattan. Our boat got in a squirtgun fight with another boat and a lot of people got soaked. Katie was totally drenched and had a good time being hosed down by the captain, who I'm sure enjoyed it equally as much. lol We ended up at a restaurant in Times Square called Mars 2112, which was also so much fun. It was pretty ridiculous and cheesy, but that's why we loved it. The last two picks were Chris's, so big props to him.
Tonight, I'm writing an article about a Shakespeare performance in Riverside Park. I get to sit in on a dress rehearsal, so this should be a lot of fun. And tomorrow, Chris and I are seeing The Blue Man Group! :-) Yay!
So there's my super long update. Pictures are on their way, and I will try harder to keep this thing up-to-date!
