where there is a will, there is a way. This saying pretty much sums up our experiences of Tses so far !! Tses is amazing though despite the fact there is literally nothing around apart from donkeys, goats and children. We currently have no fridge although we are supposed to be getting one later on today, which is pretty rough at the moment but we are coping ! We have no pots and pans, cutlery or plates etc... so we are having to borrow off our roommate Sachi who is so cool ! So the first meal we had was pasta and tomato. yummy apart from the fact we had to drink it out of plastic cups because we had no forks etc.. ! We also got very excited at the fact we had some jam to put on our bread in the morning however we then realised we couldnt open the tin despite having a tin opener so we resorted to using one of the functions on my 19 piece swiss army knife and literally stabbing this tin several time until there was a hole big enough for the jam to come out of. It was funny !!
School is going very well. We got thrown into it on the first day and just had to improvise in all our classes but we managed. The kids are pretty funny but it is quite worrying how little english some understand. Marking is very very funny !! For example, the question asked the kid to write down a word from a passage they read meaning someone you spend a lot of time with ! The correct answer was companion however one kid wrote "a bear" - pretty funny, but another kid just wrote "NO" refusing to answer the question !
We have just come out of teaching grade 7 arts class and many kids said that our lesson was great so that felt pretty good. On the way back from the lesson we saw this kid and every time he sees me he says" Miss, you must cover up so that the sun does not make you change colour" What a lad !!
We are heading into Keetmanshoop later on to do our first big shop which is pretty exciting :)
Hope everythings going well back home
Catch for now xx
