ANOTHER BLOG.
OMG!
I love this.
This means I am going overseas again.
Who would ever have believed it?
I am ...... Turning Right.
To those who have known me since the AGL days at Pinewood, you know why this Blog is titled 'Turning Right'
To everyone else......
Years ago, a little social backwater started work with 'Pulse' at Pinewood in Mt Waverley.
Driving down the Monash Freeway from Berwick each day filled me with trepidation.
Driving home was OK once I had negotiated the 'merge'.
Then I'd stick to the middle lane with a determination that had to be seen to be believed.
Co-workers would wave, toot and generally try to get my attention as they sped past me on the freeway.
Never saw one of them .....such was my single minded determination to reach home safely.
(Didn't venture out much.)
Steadily they came to believe that my car ( and, hence, the driver ) didn't turn right.
And they were right.
My car only did turn left.
Anything that involved turning right was instantly dismissed as way out of my comfort zone.
Friendships were made.
There were changes to business names and eventually we became AGL.
Not much changed.
And it was fun.
Then AGL had the gall to announce they were moving us into the city.
You know... TO THE RIGHT....
I didn't go.
Found a job in Dandenong.
Boring to the extreme...18 months.
Then Eastlink appeared.
Old friends were there.
I was lucky enough to join them....at Pinewood.
( I knew how to get there.)
Fun.
Then...
"What do you mean we are moving the team to Ringwood?
Where's that?"
OK ... Yes, yes.... so I got there...
Even without the help of directions being displayed on our electronic boards along Eastlink....
(That would have been a really nice touch.)
I still refuse to smile at the cameras because of that.
I relaxed slightly with each trip.
I had always thought I was one of those people who would watch other people go overseas.
My dream was to say that, if I ever could travel, I'd go to Cardiff and sit where Captain Jack sat.
And then, all of a sudden it was possible.
I went overseas, and I sat where Captain Jack sat... many, many times actually....
And just grinned and grinned and grinned.
And I LOVED it.
And just in case any of you missed it last time round....I've added the famous Captain Jack Seat Photo.
(Just makes me grin looking at it.)
For those new to the Blog.....
There is a seat in Cardiff, Wales ... where Captain Jack of the TV show 'Torchwood'.... sat.
That was my Mecca.
And I've been there.
Of course, I went many, many other WONDERFUL places.....but this was the 'impossible' and I'd done it.
And it was marvellous.
Back home.
Can I do it again?
Should I do it again?
Why not?
Turning left is not that appealing anymore.
There's a lot out there... and I'd like to see it.
So I am off
To Paris.... Eiffel Tower....EVERYTHING
To Munich.... Nazi tours
To St Moritz..... on the Glacier Express through Switzerland.
To Zermatt ....The Matterhorn
To Turin .... The Shroud
To The Cinque Terre .... 5 villages, walks, spectacular scenery
To Florence .....DAVID ( No. Not THAT one. Another one. )
To Rome .... All those ruins
And back.
Another Great Adventure.
I am turning right.
And I am SO excited.
