Up at 6am...great breakfast again. Hot and buffet.
But those chocolate coated donuts..I eyed those off yesterday .
Took a photo today...
And, yep...ate one.
Well, I mean, they were just SITTING there.
Was very nice.
On the bus now to Nice. The last day of our all day driving I think.
Should be in Nice about 6pm.
Another absolutely stunning sunny day.
Temp outside about 24 degrees.
Ok...last night out to see the Flamingo Dancers.
See some of you thought I was actually going to see Flamenco Dancers... But no.
Newest Spanish attraction.... Pink tall birds dancing in unison.
Well done Daryl.... Just checking to see if you were paying attention.
Great night last night....wonderful buffet meal...and then a small venue to watch the dancers...supposed to represent the caves they used to dance in years ago. We had fantastic seats... Right in front....Calvin always seems to organise this...part of the Tour obviously but you really do realise how special it makes the trip.
Amazing and funny night....
We had a race back to the bus against another tour group, Globus...
We were neck and neck at the 'don't walk' sign....but we won and gave the other bus heaps as we drove off first.
Calvin came on the microphone and said, "Please be nice to that group, I'm trying to ask the tour guide on a date."
Well...the bus erupted.
And he couldn't have told a nicer bunch of people...everyone gave him the benefit of their experience.
I am sure he went to bed a much wiser man.
So just hoping to add lots of photos today.
Just crossed into France.....Pyrenees Mountains.
Nate and Klara...I'm doing the Pyrenees!
Not quite the way you were going to...but doing them all the same.
Just had a stop for morning tea.
Unfortunately, one of the ladies, Jenny, in our group tripped up a step on the outdoor steps up to the restaurant and has badly broken a finger.
The ambulance arrived very quickly and she and her husband Phillip are off to the hospital.
Calvin is busy working out the means of transport and route for them to meet up with us in Nice. They re a lovely couple from New Zealand.
Driving down the coast towards Nice and dark clouds ahead.
Hope that clears.
In Barcelona, they don't do Bull Fighting any more so they have converted the oldest Bull Ring into a modern shopping centre.
There's a photo attached.
They raised the whole arena....I don't know how high.
Have a look at the photo. See the concrete around the bottom...that's new.
That's the bit that they added after they jacked up the entire bull ring.
Then they added a roof.
They stripped the interior but wanted to keep the historic outside.
There is another smaller bull ring that they have preserved entirely.
Sun's out again.
We are watching the original 'To Catch A Thief' with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.
Lovely.
(Due to seat rotation, I can see this one.....)
Oh...Montserrat....more stuff...I loved it up there.
Before the mountains were there....eons ago.... there was a raging river that pulled pebbles and rocks along in the current. As the river slowed, these dropped to the bottom...layer upon layer upon layer. Over millions of years, these were fused together into rock.
Then, there was a massive shift in the earth's crust....and up shot the 'serrated mountains'.
So this is the building material the Monks used at Monserrat.
Have a look at the picture...you can see all the pebbles.
