Left Melbourne right on time at 12.05am.
It was a good flight.
We both slept most of the way.
( Thanks, Chris)
Greg and Mum picked me up in Berwick and we loaded my case into the car.
This is it!
Good trip in.
Waited in the airport for Emily to arrive.
Mim was dropping her off.
There she is, walking through the crowds, towing the grey suitcase!
Yes.
Now it starts.
I gave Emily the book I had made from all the emails I had sent... about 60, I think.
" Just To Get You In The Mood For World Travel "
She loved it.
We headed to a little cafe for coffees and iced chocolate for me.
Emily checked out her new camera.
Lovely time there with Mum and Greg.
Then we said goodbye.
Much hugging.
And we turned and queued up at the Singapore Airlines Boarding Gate.
Easy.
Emily's case 17kg.
Mine 19kg.
Went through Passport Control and looked in Duty Free...
Then onto our gate.
Very exciting.
It was 28 degrees when we got off the airplane in Singapore.
I am going to like this warmer weather, I think.
Once inside the airport proper it was just lovely and cool.
It is an amazing airport.
So clean.
I regaled Emily with tales of Singapore, not that long ago, chopping your hair off if you landed, were male and had long hair.
She just looked stunned.
We wandered for a while.
Had Hungry Jack's.
Well Emily did.
I had an iced chocolate milk.
( That Chunky Kitkat on the plane was rather filling.
We are not talking about the bag of cheese Twisties, are we?
The bag was about to explode.
I had to do something!
Emily sleeps so soundly.)
Funny to see all the Europeans lined up at Hungry Jack's.
We all had walked past the most amazing array of Asian food.
Takes time to ease into another culture.
An Airport stopover doesn't seem to qualify .
Lots of good movies to watch on the next leg.
I have foolishly got myself involved in a TV series though.
So it will be a toss up what I watch.
But so glad there's a choice.
We are sitting next to an enormous fish pond.
It has waterfalls and a bridge to walk over to get to our sitting spot here.
As we walked over the bridge, we both gasped.
The Koi goldfish are enormous.
No.
Really enormous.
I've taken photos but may not be able to load them yet.
There are No Fishing signs.
It is so relaxing listening to the water.
I have walked the length of this part of the airport, twice.
Checked out shops.
And came back to the fish.
We take off in about an hour and a half.
I'm ready!

Sandra Bourke I feel I know Changi airport very well (I think that's where you are). I sat on that carpet blogging, ran on that carpet to connecting flights. Did you wear the snuggly socks the airline gives you? I know all about the 'Twisties' almost explosion.Just remember 'Singapore Sling'!! A new adventure. Wonderful.
Andrew Browning Big smiles!!!Excited????
Connie Holy Moses, those fish are big.........careful you don't get eaten. Tell Emily they're eyeing off her camera. I had to giggle at the size of your smile - I swear it gets bigger every trip, every new adventure. So glad you can experience this one with Emily. It'll be a hoot.
Amanda Hi Carolyn and Emily, Happy Holidays :) I love Changi Airport as well, did you visit the Butterfly Garden in Terminal 3?If not take a peek on your way home.Emily I thought you may have padlocked you stash of goodies this holiday! SQ has the best in flight entertainment. I got hooked on the Comedy TV series Brooklyn Nine-Nine on my last travels with SQ. Hilarious!Nothing wrong with watching the tv shows rather than the movies. This way you have more intermissions to steal Emily's goodies!! Cheers and Bon Voyage (belated!) Amandaxx PS Andrew must travel the pointy end to receive snuggly socks!!
