Up early to tuck into another traditional breakfast. Could not believe how many people were in the pub at 10 o'clock at night and women dropping blokes off at that time. Cars lined the streets but were all gone this morning. Both went for the big breakfast however we put a hold on the black pudding. Matt had fries but when they came out they were roast spuds. Ventured over to the castle and were first through the gate. Lucky as when we left hundreds were flocking in. Sits directly on top of a small cliff and is real medieval but interesting. Matt was the first to kiss the stone for the day after climbing one hundred steps to get there. You have to lay on back and attendant bends you back down a well to be able to kiss it. Steps on the way up are only three quarters of a metre wide the reason being if they were attacked shields were to wide to be put in front of you so your whole body was vulnerable. Walked around the surrounds and saw the horse's graveyard among other things.
From there we drove for an hour and a half to Bunratty. From what was a fine day without any notice it poured rain. Still wondering where it came from similar to turning a shower on. This castle has been restored and isn't as historic as Blarney but well worth a look. Had lunch at Durty Nellys with a traditional roast chicken and was there some spuds on it. Supposedly oldest pub in Ireland and ceilings are seven feet high with little serving windows along with three very small bars and sawdust all over a cobble floor very rustic indeed. Probably check it a bit closer in an hour. Staying at Bunratty Castle Hotel and there is a wedding going on nothing unusual over here. Still can't believe how they parallel park over here. The cars just face each half the time seems whatever is the easiest way then that's all that matters. After going up at least 200 steps to the top of castles legs are a bit like jelly at the moment but food football training for Matt. The other amusing thing I found this morning a bit after ten was three local guys sitting in the bar all drinking pints and doing the crossword. One would read out the clue and they then put there heads together for an answer. Talk about a circus!
