3 flights, 31 hours and 13 time zones later, we have arrived at our Singapore hotel. A small and hip hotel, and given the 1am arrival time, we are excited to lay ourselves down in an actual bed. Tomorrow (or today, really) we will do a quick tour of the city and then see where else we want to spend our time. We have all day Friday in Singapore, and until lunch on Saturday, before we join the rest of the fam and fly to Bali. Can't wait to begin exploring.
I'll take a quick minute to describe our flights. We cashed in every point we had to go first, aka Delta One. We even went out of our way to fly from Detroit to Tokyo, instead of direct from Atlanta to Tokyo, because Delta has the airbus on that route that has the seats that basically are boxed in luxury cabins. From Tokyo to Singapore was "regular" Delta One, which is still a seat that goes complete flat to sleep. It's the only way I'll sleep on a plane, and I got about 6 hours this trip. The service has been delightful. The seats from Detroit to Tokyo were beyond delightful. Well worth the brief detour. We actually had a chest-high door to close ourselves off from the isle.
One of the great meal selections was a desert I know as a dame blanche (aka vanilla Sunday with hot chocolate sauce), which I turned down because as a matter of principle I only eat dame blanches with my brother (and sometimes two), and we're not getting together until Saturday.
So you're thinking "wow, good for you, I hope this blog gets better". It will. It's been a long day and a half with not much of a story to tell, yet, so hang in there for a day or two.
Sweet dreams.
