After a surprisingly comfortable night at the 'loggiest' of log cabins in Dubois we set off for the lengthy drive to Devil's Tower, Wyoming (aka Star Command's Secondary Landing Site). We passed over the Rockies through Ashley National Park to reach Rock Springs Wyoming by nightfall. It was a long, 630 mile drive from Lake Powell and we narrowly missed a snow storm on the mountain before descending into Rock Springs to camp the night. Today is a far shorter 250 miles or so to Yellowstone.

The road to Rock Springs took us through Monument Valley. The road was VERY long and had it not been for the electro-cooling soles in my Ranger suit boots I would have been in real trouble!

After another chilly night camping in Rock Springs we set off for Yellowstone. As we drove the mountains got higher, the air got colder and the snow got deeper. By the time we reached Jackson, Wyoming the prospects of even reaching Yellowstone were getting doubtful. After the adventure of the Grand Canyon we drove the rerlatively short trip to Lake Powell for a more relaxed afternoon of doing very little. As you can see from my pictures the place was all but deserted and was very peaceful.
