We slept well but it was very squeezy, while one of us showered the other got changed and rearranged the luggage. There was no room in the bathroom to do anything but shower! We had brekky downstairs and although Dave was rushed off his feet, he was as always, the perfect host and managed the mayhem with ease.
We had plenty of time before we caught the fast ferry to Dublin so we decided to walk to the terminal. It was very cloudy and cool so perfect for a kilometre or so walk with our luggage.
I must have looked dodgy as I was body searched before being allowed to board…..OMG! We'd decided to travel in Club Class, which was just perfect, clearly that was not made clear before I boarded!! Some of the benefits were free Wi-Fi, food, drink, and our own reserved seating with fabulous views.
I attempted going outside a couple of times but the wind cut right through me and threatened to blow me overboard, well at least my hair!!!! There wasn’t a lot to see apart from one coastline disappearing and another one appearing. Kimbo however braved the elements and spent as much time outside as he could. The sea was kind to us and the trip was completely uneventful.
In less than 2 hours we’d made it and there to meet us was our old mate "Irish" Caroline, who we hadn’t seen for 10 years.
In no time at all we were deposited in our lovely room at the apartment she shares with her delightful missus Therese. No time for us to get comfortable as we were off to Dun Laoghaire, for a walk along the massive seawall.
It was still pretty windy and cool and there were throngs of Dubliners (I presume) eating ice creams and wearing next to nothing, as you do on a Sunday afternoon...crazy!! There was a big old seal lion frolicking around in one of the sheltered rock pools that caused a lot of interest amongst the locals.
On the way home we stopped for a drink at The Purty Kitchen, that’s been operating as a pub only since 1728.
Finished off a perfect day with a magnificent home cooked meal and discussed our plans for tomorrow.
