Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
On Monday we drove down to Heidelberg south of Frankfurt where we stayed for a couple of nights. This town is known as the most beutiful in Germany, and it was very nice. Lots of old buildings and cobbled streets, and a castle over looking the town on the hillside. We camped for 2 nights at side of a river, spent the days realxing in the scorching sun, and watching the games in the bars. A mix of fans staying there, but still the english outweigh everyone as usual.
Wednesday we headed across to Nuremberg and went into the centre in the evening. We are staying in a hotel about 10mins out of town, and of course its full of england fans, but not too noisy so getting some sleep. The main square has got a large bar area with screens.
Thursday, 2nd match day, no tickets this time, headed into the centre in the morning to soak up the atmosphere. We tried our best to get tickets, this meant me walking round with a tickets wanted sign stuck in my bikini! However the prices the touts were asking were just too high 500-1000 euros per ticket. We had a great time sat in the main square, singing songs with hundreds of fans. Couldnt believe how many trinadad and tobago fans there were, all dressed up, and having a good laugh with us. They even did a caribbean style carnival through the centre. Flags hanging everywhere from every available place. Still 30degrees plus so kept trying to sit in shade. We headed to the ground to see if we could get any cheaper tickets there. Thankfully our persistance paid off, just as we were leaving and heading to the fan park we manged to get 2 tickets off a group of lads who were buying some off a tout for 300euros each. The tickets were courtesy of the Paraguay FA! The perimeter around the ground was huge and it took a while to get anywhere near it. Next to the ground was an old Nazi parade ground, very erie. Luckily we got in the ground no problems and we hadnt bought fakes! We were really pleased with our seats, cracking view, sat behind the england FA, at front of second tier. The ground was again dominated by english, but credit to T&T who added to the top atmosphere. The atmosphere was even better than frankfurt, loads of singing, and of course we all went mad when Rooney came on. A bit of a nervous game, but it all came good in the end, sorry Shanty! We continued celebrating after the final whistle and the singing continued on into the centre and back to the main square.
Today we have walked around Nuremburg and surprised how nice it is, the old walled city is very pretty, with red roof buildings, river, and cobbled streets.
