We have come down the coast just 10 miles to the modern port of Gdynia, we are experiencing the worst rain we have had since being in the Baltic 2 days non stop. Hopefully moving on to Hel tomorrow after visiting the Polish warship museum

We left early and had a good sail to Gdańsk in the rising wind 20 + knots as the storm approached, we would later realise that we had done well to get in before the wind, as it lasted over a week. Wow our longest ever daily trip 111 nm 19 hours. As can be seen from the photo, no wind and in the mid 30 s, we stopped the engine and just drifted mid afternoon and enjoyed a dip in the sea to cool off. We left just after sunrise and arrived after dark. We didn’t go ashore just slept then left again early in the morning as the storm was now getting closer.

We appear to have a weather window to get to Gdańsk, something we didn’t achieve last year. Gdansk is approximately 200 along the coast of Poland almost to Russia, we were just 15 miles from Russian territorial waters at the closest point. First stop 50 miles is Kolobrzeg, just one night as our window was closing with a storm coming in. The town is a big tourist town in Poland and very busy.

This year we have today joined the CA Rally about 20 other boats for a cruise in company from here I Stralsund, Kröslin, wolgast, Ueckermünde then ending in Swinoujscie Poland. We started off in Stralsund with a meal in the fish restaurant followed by a guided walking tour of the old town in 30 degrees heat.
