The owner of our hostel, Tiny Tigers, had arranged breakfast for us eventhough we were leaving so early, before his bread delivery. Breakfast was yet again very good and we headed for the Sinh Tourist office.
The 5 hour bus journey was pleasant enough until the bus pulled over in the middle of nowhere. We were all looking around to see what was going on and then suddenly two guys carrying a girl came to the bus door. The poor girl had fallen off her motorbike at speed and had badly injured both her legs! There was blood all over her legs and she looked petrified. Luckily she was from Finland and spoke a little English so I gathered up as many first aid bags as possible and attempted to clean her legs up as much as I could, we still had a 2 and a half hour drive to the nearest hospital! The cuts were pretty severe and she would definitely would need stitches but after I strapped them up using the most pathetic tape in the world, all she could do is wait until Nha Trang.
On arriving into the big city of Nha Trang, within 10 minutes, there was another terrible motorbike collision. I didn't see the whole thing but heard it and it sounded bad. The bus driver wouldn't stop as it seemed to be a daily occurrence for them so he didn't seem bothered, but carried on! Just crazy! They tried to take the injured girl to a hospital but luckily for her, as I needed to go about my bite, I had researched a good English speaking hospital so she just came along with us. What a journey!
The hostel we were staying at, Min Hostel, was run by the tiniest soft spoken girl, she was adorable! Our dorm was lovely and clean so we were yet again very happy. We hadn't really planned to do an awful lot in Nha Trang as many blogs we had read said not to even bother stopping there. On walking around, we could see why. The city itself is just another busy touristy city, it wasn't awful though so we would make the best of our stay. It quickly became apparent that there were so many Russians, so Nha Trang must be a popular holiday destination for them!
We booked a night train to Hoi An for the following night with Sinh Tourist and just soaked up what Nha Trang had to offer until then. We ate in lots of fab restaurants, one in particular was 'Burgers and Steaks' in which we both had a great meal. We found a cafe called 'Iced Coffee' which again was great, but a tad expensive. We did some shopping, and walked down to see the beach, which wasn't awful, but wasn't impressive either.
I pampered myself a little during our stay. The Blind Massage parlour was recommended to me by our hostel so I had an hour massage for only £3! She was so cute and lovely, and very good so I also gave her a tip.... that might be my first all trip! I also had a pedicure and my toe nails painted as they were looking just dire! I felt much better about myself!
We did venture out a little and caught a local bus (Bus no. 4) to Po Nagar ancient temples which was interesting but so full of tourists it was hard to see it in all its glory, definitely worth a quick visit though.
That evening, we caught the night bus to Hoi An. We had prepared ourselves with comfortable clothes, pillows and snacks so we were ready for it! I also put all my money, phone and passport into a small bum bag that I wore under my clothes. I've heard too many stories about things going missing, Matt just rolls his eyes at me but better safe than sorry! This would be our first night bus experience and we were a little apprehensive, but if we can handle a 17 hour night train in India without food and water, then I was pretty sure we had this!
