What an amazing day, we travelled by bus from Barcelona port to Montserrat. It is a monastery built amongst an imposing mountain with spectacular rock formations. It is the location of were the Virgin Mary was seen by a saint Ignatius (I think) A holy sculpture was created in the 12th Century that represents the Virgin Mary & is painted black (the Black Madonna).

We then returned to Barcelona and did a quick tour around the city seeing the main town square & examples of Gaudi architecture. Another place you could easy spend a week at to appreciate fully.
