Our last night at Onguma was quiet - shared with the 3 others who went to bed early so we sat by the fire and drank our wine and chatted to Dennis, our waiter.
The nights get cold (and the mornings even colder) but we had really warm quilts and, to make it even better, we found hot water bottles in our beds - a lovely touch.
As I said, the mornings are cold and with no heating in the tent - and getting up before sunrise - we made use of the robes and slippers! And in the open dining room, the fire is lit and our table has been next to it (they tried to move us to the front last night but we asked to be moved back!!).
So we had breakfast and moved off just before 09.00 and hit the road (tar all the way) which was quiet - although in Namibian terms I guess it was busy! However, we did the 300 odd miles in 5.5 hours so we made good time. Now checked back in to the Olive Grove in the same room as on the way out.
Tomorrow on the 16.00 SAA flight to Joburg and then 20.05 Virgin back to LHR. At least it won’t be as cold as when we usually get back from SA!
