We’ve had some problems.
1. The tailgate of the car failed to lock. The Chrysler Equinox locked all the doors except the tailgate (well spotted Lin) so we decided that it needed to be changed. We finally managed to do this in NO and now have a Virtually new Toyota Highlander, usefully having 7 seats!
2. Another spot by Lin showed that we (Andy) had messed up the dates so we had to leave NO a day early. Whoops!
3. We turned up for a swamp tour we had booked by phone and found it was the wrong one!
I’m going to backtrack here. Leaving Mobile we went to the USS Alabama battle ship and did a longish tour. We also toured a submarine at the same place - the USS Drum. Following this, we went to Bellingrath Gardens a 65 acre estate of planted gardens on the banks of the river. And then to New Orleans - see previous!
From New Orleans, we went on a swamp boat tour of the bayou to see, mainly, alligators. Mostly smallish but quite interesting nevertheless.
From there, we headed for Natchez - a small historic town on the banks of the Mississippi. Stayed in a beautiful house high on the banks of the river. We found a great pub/ restaurant where we had a drink and then went back for dinner. Andy made friends with the owner because he had a UK motorbike (a new Triumph) and Union Jack socks!!
After a nightcap on the stoop time for bed in our large room which had windows on three of its 4 sides. Left early in the morning for a long run up to Memphis.
