This day occurred as a result of our booking wobble - see previous blog. We therefore found ourselves with a spare day and decided to go to Kentucky - Somerset in particular. Had quite a good drive avoiding freeways and driving along country roads. About 15 miles out of Somerset, the drizzle which we had been experiencing on and off turned into a rainstorm of biblical proportions making visibility virtually nil. Watching the weather forecast shows we are sitting under a pretty much stationery front with thunderstorms and flash flooding. Great!
So,reset doesn’t seem to have a great deal to offer apart from a quite nice Marriott hotel! There is a large lake sou5 of here where we didn’t stop because of the weather but tomorrow we will be driving through the Daniel Boone forest towards the Great Smoky Mountains and Chattanooga (Choi Choi!).
On the way we stopped for coffee at a diner called Son Rise. Turns out the owners were extremely religious with bible quotes on the wall and their T shirts. The coffee wasn’t great, but it was cheap!
Not much to report today then! Onwards tomorrow!
