Happy New Year all the way from Belgium - where the chocolates, waffles and Beers couldn't be better!!! What a lovely place!. 2 nights spent in Brussels for the New Year Celebrations! Emma Payne, Michael Meehan, Andrew and Myself headed over on the 30th December to firstly celebrate Emma's Birthday. This began with the greedy girl(Sheridan) going straight to the hot chocolate waffles - Oh my god - all I can say is I'm in heaven! Then Belgium chocolates, fantastic beers and a three course dinner saw the night out where we were all ready to explode. The next day - new years eve - we all hit the road, jumped on the train and headed for Brugge. Gorgeous little town, even in the cold and wet weather it was still as beautiful as could be. Icerink in the centre of the town square with kids enjoying the moment with Xmas carols in the background. Although one big boy - not mentioning any names, was fascinated by this and wanted to have a go also! Luckily he decided against it - as I wasn't too keen to practise my first aid skills out just yet. Despite the rain, we decided to enjoy a horse and carriage ride around town followed by a couple of quiet beers before heading back to Brussels for the night. After a Shezza's afternoon snooze the New Years celebrations began - with a few drinkies in our hotel. Michael had already had a few big drinks - he managed to smooth talk the bar staff to serve his beers in a stein glass (1litre) for the price of a pint! We then headed in town to view the fireworks - grabbed a couple of travellers (Andrew and I tried to buy as many different flavoured beers as we possibly could), Unfortuantely the fireworks had been cancelled so we headed to all the action in the Grand Square - where the countdown began. Afterwards we tried our luck in one of the bars - which was way too packed and then headed back to the hotel around 2ish. By then the 10% beers had got to our head and we had enough! Certainly a different New Years! The next day was spent walking around, yet again stuffing our little mouths with chocolates and waffles before catching the Eurostar train back to London! Where we had two more days to relax before heading back to work. Hope you all also had a fantastic New Years! We are missing you all and would love to hear your stories!
