Today we continued east along the coast line and onto The Great Ocean Road. We visited many of the spectacular cliff edge lookouts and saw what is left of the 12 Apostles and London Bridge. The sun was shining and the winds not too strong, however, they still smash against the cliffs with enormous force.
We left the van at Bimbi Caravan Park. "Camping under Koala's" is their catch phrase, as the surrounding bush is the home to many Koalas'. Unfortunately not too far from the park there is evidence of the Koala's having eaten the habitat to death, with many large dead trees remaining.
We spent the afternoon at Cape Otway, exploring the lighthouse and the surrounding settlement buildings. There was a dinosaur display with fossils and a national geographic video of the archaeologists digging out Dinosaur fossils found along the coastline at Inverloch (we never saw this video while in Inverloch last year!) One of the buildings was playing Morse code and had a coder there on display to demonstraighting how the mainland used to communicate with Ships and Tasmania. The boys found this fascinating as after high school, I was in the army, trained as a radio operator and could read and send Morse code. They said it all blended in together, I agree with them now, but once it made sense to me and I could read up to 18 words a minute.
We climbed to the top of the lighthouse.

This morning we continued east along The Great Ocean Road. By mid-morning rain had set in, so rather than stopping and exploring we continued driving through. We pulled into the Lorne Visitor's centre seeking guidance on what can be done in the rain; unfortunately the options they gave, visiting a pub or going to the movies, were not what we wanted to do.
The weather forecasts are predicting rain for the rest of the day and coming days. We are only a couple of hours drive from home, so unfortunately we decided it was time to head home!
