We found this beautiful town to be better off than Lithuania after the Communist Regime. A trip to the coast line of the Baltic (sea) was a highlight. The city was clean and had many churches which had to be reconstructed/ or renovated after being vandalised by the communists.

We flew from Rome to Frankfurt and then onto our first Baltic State Capital of Vilinaus the capital of Lithuania. A beautiful town with a large old town area which was fascinating and most evident was the reconstruction after the removal of the communist regime. The Neirus River, some 300 km long flows through the capital and with very well planned landscaping is not only a feature but is well used by the locals.

Rome was about Romans and the legacy they left behind. The size and scale of their efforts, eg., the Forum, have to be seen to be believed.
