Finally we have arrived. After a horrendously long long flight. Well seeing though we had very little sleep on the flight and we arrived in Lima at midnight, we crashed and awoke at a reasonable hour to be insinc with local time hence no jet lag between us!!
Lima is how the guide books describe it... smoggy. We are staying in the very nice part of town right on the Pacific ocean so we do have a nice sea breeze coming through.
The region we are staying in is gorgeous with heaps of Spanish mission inspired achitecture. The hotel we have been staying in for the past two days is beautiful, bursting with colour, antiques, flowers and traditional peruvian style in a lovely inn Jenny and Sharon booked for us. This certainly will not be the benchmark for where we will be staying for the remainder of our stay but a nice memory.
Yesterday we didn\\\'t gamble with any public transport just watched the world go by and take it all in. we are taking a fairly nice bus today down to Pisco where we will base ourselves for a couple of days.
After this i think it will be time to ease ourselves into the local transportation, that is, overfilled combi buses trailing along the streets, yell to catch attention, jump on, hold on tight and then yell again to quickly jump off!!
Food...
Well we have tried some typical food from the Cheva\\\'s (little cafes with traditional food and simple menu( Our guide book has been a blessing in disguise to make sense of the menus. Aidan was very close to ordering cow stomach with stirfry vegies until the waiter described what he was ordering, charades fashion, and aidan quickly changed his order.
Well time to see a little more of lima before we catch our bus.
ps> weather is very nice around 18-20 degrees, fresh breeze and a killer of sun *learnt from experience, 30plus sunscreen everywhere today!!!
love always
