It's been a while since the last update, and the reason is we've been lazy, not doing a lot other than travelling from beach to beach!!
Our visa renewal was not a problem and from the airport we travelled south to some nice beaches on Phuket callled Karon and Kata (sounds like 2 Swedish birds). We arrived in Karon and the place was deserted and the hostel we were looking for had closed down 2 years ago. But a helpful Ausie recommended another place. Across the way was a Regae bar which was in full swing and we enjoyed our return to Thailand eating a free BBQ, watching fire dancers and listening to live music.
From Phuket we travelled to Phi Phi for 4 days, we met a nice couple from London and ended up going out to a few local bars with them. The Irish bar had an irresistible offer on buckets, but in the morning I was certainly wishing I had resisted! We had watched foreigners trying their hand at Thai boxing and enjoyed more fire throwing talents on the beach.
On Phi Phi it's very developed, there are lots of nice bars, restaurants and beautiful beaches aren't very far away. As it's the wet season we dodged the showers and snorkelled. We did a long tail boat trip to Phi Phi Lei, the island where "The Beach" is set. It is a beautiful setting, but even in low season, very very busy.
Our next slice of paradice was the beautiful Railay, not as well known and very unspoilt. We stayed for 3 days and I tried my hand at rock climbing. Accommodation here was a great little bungalow for around 10pounds per night.
We are currently in Krabi town and have just finished a days Kayaking, Kim managed to make a new friend (see pic). The landscape along this part of the Thailand coast is breathtaking, insurpasable limestone cliffs and tranquil emerald waters. I easily can see why people stay here for a long time. But we are finally heading back to Bangkok tomorrow with the plan of moving on arranging our Vietnamese visa.
Hope everyone is well, love Brian and Kim
