We arrived into Kuala Lumpar ahead of Lynn, which was fortunate as it gave us time to realise that she wasn't actually arriving into the same airport.....opps. But we caught a bus and I stood there with my "Lynn McKeown" sign in hand and sure enough Lynn and a surprisingly light rucksack arrived safely.
Having been to KL before we only spent the night there. Again we stayed in China town but this time in a nice hotel, and again we had some drinks, but this time they were on the 45th floor of the Traders Hotel.....rooftop pool and cocktails. We were loving the luxury....
The flight to the Perhentians and boat across were pretty straight forward. The usual grievances like, the boat leaving 1hr after scheduled, and a taxi boat tryin to rip us off....but we made it. The girls checked out the accommodation on Long Beach and returned a little disheartened. But fortunately with a reccommendation we found a shack on stilts, with a fan and a sea view! For 9 pound, for 3 people it was hard to grumble......welcome to budget travel Lynn!!
We did manage to get an upgrade the following day to a hut with plumbing and an even better sea view. The weather has been amazing and a lot of time has been spent on the beach or in the sea. The island is extremely chilled and even more so as it's the end of the season so there are few tourists about. We went on a snorkelling trip for a day and swam with black tip sharks and at another location we followed a turtle as it munched on the sea floor.
Last night was spent on the "Big" island, which has a few more resorts and we managed to eat some more fresh seafood, have some more cocktails and to my delight watch Liverpool beat Man U 2-0!!! Great holidays.
Next stop, 4095m, Mt Kinabalo, Borneo....tbc
