Today, being an 'At Sea' day was a day for leisure. Due to the time change back an hour we didn't sleep as late as we thought so went to the restaurant for breakfast which had ok Eggs Benedict but otherwise all the same stuff as the buffet. A bit of book reading & I headed to the gym for a run on the treadmill- managed 2 miles of running today!! With a full day in port & our research telling us there wasn't loads to do in Torshavn we didn't rush out of bed but were off the ship about 10 am. Today's stop was Bergen & being a larger city we were parked a little out of the very centre of town but just near the Bergenhus (castle & fort) which was our first stop for a look as we walked into town. Close by was the area Bergen is famous for - Bryggen. Dating from 1702 onwards the Bryggen wooden merchants buildings stand shoulder to shoulder in pastel colours facing out to the harbour. The ship wasn't due to dock in Alesund until 10am so we enjoyed a bit of a sleep in then wandered off the ship just after getting in. Once again there were overpriced hop-on hop-off buses on offer for all the lazy oldies off the ship but we were more than happy to walk, especially as the ship was once again right in the centre of town.
