Steps, steps & more stone steps. Today we faced what we thought was just 2hrs of continuous stone steps which steeply rose up the hillside past more terraced fields & simple homes. We had got an early start to avoid the heat of the sun & after crossing a couple of swing bridges we endured the gruelling endless steps which took all the puff out of my lungs as we also climbed in altitude. We had a mid morning break where toblerone & plenty of water really hit the spot but still we climbed, not on gradual slips as we thought but more uneven stone rocks now with small patches of flat path which were a welcome relief if only for just a few steps. We stopped for lunch around 12.30/1 and relished in a break from walking the upward & uneven path but soon enough we were once again back on the uphill trail until around 3.30 when we arrived into our accommodation which afforded amazing, if a little clouded views of the Annapurna ranges from the dining area & from our basic room with another cleansing hot shower. Not wanting to walk any further we lounged around & kept warm by the wood heater (at 2800m it was somewhat colder here) until dinner where I had a surprisingly good pizza & apple pie with custard. With our alarm set before sunrise we turned in for an early night, if a little chilly night.
