Up an at em at about 8 even though I could have easily enjoyed a few extra hours sleep. We had some porridge we had bought last night as we had a kitchenette & then went catch the ferry. On our way out the door I quickly checked the pier number only to discover the ferry was a hour later than I had thought so instead we had to return to the BART train then take a bus to Vallejo where we had time for a coffee before Leah picked us up. After some waiting in the sun Leah & her boyfriend Tom arrived and we head off towards Sonoma with lots of gossip & catching up on the way. Our winery stop was the Cline Winery where Leah was a club member so we got to sample the wines in a private room/building which had a nice patio where we could sit in the warm sun on a cool day & sip our delicious wines. All the reds we tried on the menu were smooth & easy drinking. Mum & I bought a bottle of the 2013 Zinfadel each which at club price was only $11.20. Next we drove into central Sonoma which had a gorgeous town centre all set around a large square tree-d garden with the public hall in the centre & old style shops lining the outside. The cafe we had lunch at we thankfully didn't have to tip as you ordered at the counter- I had a chicharron roll with crispy pork belly which was delicious. A bit of a stroll around the other shops then as it started to get cool we drove back towards Sacramento to visit Leah's house. She had a 2 bed place in a typical looking suburban American street with lots of Xmas lights adorning each house. We chatted for a good few hours about all manner of topics & then thought we better head to our hotel to check in after 10. After 8 years it was great to catch up with Leah & meet Tom and the day had turned out very relaxing & enjoyable.
