Day 75 Coban
We were only in Coban for less than 24hrs but it is worth writing about just for the food. We arrived from Semuc Champey and checked into a Hostel, Casa D'Acuna, that was quoted as being 'the most fancy Hostel in Central America'. We had to give it a go. The rooms were situated around a beautiful garden courtyard that doubled as pretty upmarket restaurant where the waiters had earpieces to talk to the kitchen staff and they all wore immaculate uniforms. We wandered around the streets for the afternoon before retreated to the restaurant for an AMAZING dinner.
We shared dinner with the Canadian and American girls we met. We sat out in the courtyard, our table lit by candles, looking up to the stars and ready to eat some really nice food that didn't consist of rice and beans. Within a short time we had all indulged in great Italian food, nice wine and were ready for dessert. The dessert cabinet was just awesome and we all got a different piece of cake or pie with ice-cream. The whole night was a success and we all rolled to our comfortable beds happy.
Before we caught the bus to Antigua the next day we tried our luck at going to a coffee tour but found out that it was a public holiday so most things were closed for the day. So we went out for breakfast instead, yet another great meal. Coban will certainly be remembered for the food.
