Day 87 Crossing into Costa Rica - Puntarenas
The bus ride wasn't too bad coming into Costa Rica, it was more so the border crossing. We arrived at the border and crossed very easily, almost too easily. We found our next bus which was leaving in 15mins and paid the bus lady a few dollars to get our passport sorted in time. $2 later we were on the bus and ready for Costa Rica. We drove for all of 5 minutes and then had to get out for the next border crossing. This one was not so easy. The line ran from inside the office, out the doors, along one side of the building, then around another and started to double back on itself. Brendan and I played tag team standing in the line, which was in the beautiful but hot sun, while the other stretched their legs walking around and watching the world cup in the cafeteria with all the other locals and gringos passing through. It was a nice people watching experience, the fashion and accessories but most of all the manners. So many people tried to push their way in, Just hoping no one would see them, it was hilarious. Nearly 2 hours later we were back on the bus, passports stamped and heading towards Puntarenas again. After a whole day of travel, nearly 11hrs worth, we arrived into Puntarenas a small port town on the pacific coast of Costa Rica. We wandered out into the rain, down to the water and found ourselves a nice restaurant where we ate fish and steak and chilled out over a few drinks.
We didn't get to see much of Puntarenas but it was a nice enough start to Costa Rica.
