Bren and Kate's travels!
Hello!
Sorry we have taken so long to update but in order to get where we are we had to go through some of the most hill-billy places there are!
We left Byron and went up to the Gold Coast and stayed at a place near Surfers Paradise. It was really nice here, caravan site was just across the road from the beach. People there say it is very simliar to Miami, we will be able to tell when we get there! However, some b****** stole Brendan's boardies which was rather annoying!
After this we made are way up to Hervey Bay. On the way up we stop at Steve Irwin's zoo which was pretty cool. We fed kangaroos and petted Koala bears. He wasn't there but it was still quite good and bloody boiling. We almost melted watching the shows!
Hervey Bay was ok, but we were beginning to get into the hill-billy land, The only reason we think people go there is to go to Fraser Island and See whales, but seeing as this is only from July-Oct we didn't do that! Also we had the smallest portion of fish and chips possible for about ten pounds. And they make you unwrap the chips to put vinegar on it. Backwards!!
Then we went to a place called Gladstone and we really think Oke would have been more exciting. To make matters worse it was a bank holiday here and we were forced to listen to the worst singer in the world. We were only sat in the site, so we can imagine what it was like in the actual park. That night we got eaten alive by sandflies, little f**kers!
We quickly moved onto Rockhampton which was slightly better. We went to a 2km beach where we were the only people on it which was pretty cool.
The next day we moved up to Mackay, officially the worst place yet. I refused to use the bathroom and Brendan said that some kids had been sent over to see what we had in the van by their fathers! The city is about ten buildings spread out over ten miles. In the evening we went to watch MI3 which was about the only good thing we have to say about this place! DON'T GO TO MACKAY!!
We are now in Airlie beach in a much nicer place where they have shops we have actually heard of. It is actually a coastal village, but with a huge lagoon with 24hr lifeguarding. It is very backpacky! Tomorrow we are hopefully gonna go out to the barrier reef and do some snorkelling which we are really looking forward to.
Better go, Subway is calling,
Hope all is well with everyone,
Love us xx
