I arrived at the Silver River in Ocala and entered at Ray Wayside park. I kayaked 5 miles upstream to the Silver Springs where the river originates and then returned back to where I entered. The springs are natural and are something like 99.8% pure... whatever that means. It took about 4 1/2 hours roundtrip with stop on the way upstream for wildlife, lunch, potty breaks... etc. It took 3 hours to paddle upstream and only 1 1/2 hours on the way back. I really enjoyed this, the water was incredibly clear and the wildlife was amazing. If anybody is ever near this area, I would strongly suggest taking this trip. It was most excellent.
