Ho Chi Mihn City - First day in Ho Chi Mihn City (Siagon) after a very long day and night of flying via Hong Kong which was a cool airport, felt like i was in a spotless version of Bond Street, due to the small Prada, Gucci, and very expensive watch boutiques.
First impression of Vietnam? Ho Chi Mihn City smells, guessing that has something to do with the river Siagon, but the locals seem very pleasent, always offering help with huge grins, although already i have said no to over 50 peop's selling copied sunglasses or watches, also theres this sort of taxi service by moped, these guys do get annoying asking you all the time if you want a lift.
we went for a walk around to try and get a feel for the place, was a bit hard at first as all street names are 5 words long and look the same, and as soon as you stop, guess what, a bloke with a moped appears offering a lift! walking round HCMC was different, there is no rules to the road, mopeds weaving in and out of buses and lorries, what looks like no speed limit and no real proper side of the road to ride or drive on, so crossing roads is a bit of 'life in own hands' sort of thing. we ended up in a market which sold everything from copied handbags and watches, to goats and chickens, to live fish and lobsters. strange place, but strangely interesting.
