We're up early enough for me to greet the lobby attendant with Ohayo, first time in a week! It's an indicator of how motivated the girls are today - we're off to Sanrio Puroland for our Hello Kitty adventure 2.0. This place is the embodiment of Kawaii - super sweet, high pitched, and smiling constantly. The girls are awestruck.
This is all one building, enclosing the whole theme park. There are rides, water floats like It's a Small World, and little cart rides. We're on a water ride first, Kitty's ball. Fid and I are struggling to understand what is happening, whilst the girls seem to instantly understand or not care, they're Ohhs and Ahhs for the whole ride. The rest of the place is just the same, Fid and I stand in bewilderment, the girls rush from brightly coloured plastic thing to another.
Then there are the shops. Where Disney would be a 4:1 attraction to shop ration. Hello Kitty is at least 1:1 and that makes for two very happy Aurisch Princesses. Eventually, we're in Kitties House. You can buy a rose to give Kitty when you meet her, then buy a photo with her. As we enter the house Gab is all like - we won't be doing that, how silly. By the end just as we're approaching Kitty - "Here Emerson, go and buy Kitty a rose, quickly!" We have our photo, I even scored a Kitty hug. Have some lunch, another shop, then we're out of there.
Next up - Tokyo Dome! In keeping with our poor planning, we haven't done any research. It's not until the train that we realise Tokyo Dome City has some awesome rides we should have made time to get to. On the train ride there Boo is trying to ensure we get on a coaster. "Dad, can we go on the rides?" I explain all the conditions we have to overcome to make it onto the rides, but then eventually say "if all those things go ok, then Yes." I didn't realise she was recording me, she edited out all the conditions and just strung together "Can we go on the rides, Yes" clever!
We arrive with just enough time for dinner and some arcade time for Fid before we're ready for the game. At dinner Boo is trying to order herself a Coke. Gab explains to her that she can't have any: "Honey you flip out, you can't have coke anymore, just have wine."
We've bought all our merch, we've decided to go for the Yomiuri Giants over the Hanshin Tigers, we're all kitted up and off to our seats. Our rudimentary understanding of baseball doesn't get in the way, we're here for the theatre, it's enthralling. I get so wrapped up and I end up cheering just for whoever does something cool. A split bat goes flying halfway across the field. The tigers get 3 runs in the first, it's all fire. Then the Giants are up and from the bottom of the first for the next few innings, there are no runs but plenty of drama. This crowd is insane, we're chanting for both sides.
Then there are the convenience girls. Running up and down the stadium lugging their fair on their backs. Absolute machines, as soon as you waive, she has your cup out pouring your beer as she climbs the stairs, she squats to finish off the head and exchange the cash, from waive to beer in hand in under thirty seconds - I'm so impressed I just keep ordering whenever the Yebisu girls comes near.
We tainted the Giants, they go down to the Tigers 1:4. Perhaps we're the cause of the shocking season start for the Swans this year? Regardless, the Tigers won - making it a Kitty Dome for the night.
