Our last full day in Hong Kong was a rush down to the Sams for a final fitting before we leave. They already had a shirt made, all nicely pressed and bagged!
Next we got on a proper tour of the Island, starting off with The Peak. What a view, this must be when it isn't foggy :) It's pretty cool going up in the tram, but the buildings are more impressive. Tall, thin and piercing the sky, it must be awesome to look down over your balcony and onto the clouds below. Lukcily our photographer has photoshop on the laptop he carries around, he photoshopped us onto a crystal clear background :)
How tall are these office buildings? We were in the base of the IFC tower the day before when we checked out the Apple store. You can just make them out in this picture sticking their head up above the clouds.
We then headed down through Repluse bay, past Jacky Chan's house and into the Aberdeen fishing village. Out of the water the kids were equally impressed by "Jumbo" the massive floating shanty restaurant, and the fact that people live on the house boats we saw a few minutes later.
Last stop of the day was back to Stanley markets, where we again resisted buying all the junk. I have a new found appreciation for Gab's seld control - I caught some luggage bug and just wanted to buy bags, new camera bag, new laptop bag, new backpack. I resisted, but really didn't want to.
Next time I come to Hong Kong I have to know how to say numbers for the locals. Everytime I got in a cab we had this silly dance: I'd say "90 Nathan Rd" for example, he'd pull a confused look like I was asking him for sardines, I'd waive my iPhone map at him, he'd laugh, call his mate, they'd laugh at the iPhone toghter, then hangup and say "Ok, Ok".
The next day we headed to Hong Kong Airport and off to Germany!
