Our first of three night coaches out of the way. I really don't want to do anymore! It looked quite romantic- a double cabin with AC, perfect! In truth, it was so cramped. These cabins weren't made for anyone over 5 foot!
We arrived in Udaipur so shattered. The hotel is deceiving, first impressions weren't great, but everywhere is clean and the staff are so welcoming. Even though we arrived at 6am they got our room ready and let us in for a nap! After two nights here we decided this has been our favourite so far. The staff and locals can't do enough for you, and Udaipur is just generally a delight.
Strolling around the quiet dusty streets, no one hustles you into their shops or shouts at you. Everyone is just so happy you're here, everyone feels like an old friend.
On day one Brad decided (with my encouragement) to get his nose pierced. Bad idea. The guy tried so many different ways to push the piercing through- Brad's nose was just too chunky...hehehe. Then I wanted my eyebrows threading, only to end up cutting the salon owners hair, then Brad's! Couldn't help myself! The newly formed western Indian was so grateful that he invited us for dinner with his family, but didn't show up at 8- his wife clearly wasn't impressed!
Instead we ate a whole tandoori chicken at a place called, The Lotus Cafe, it was superb! We had also decided to hit the whiskey again with an American guy who taught us how to play blackjack for about 2 hours! Sinead cleared up (uno cards)!
After a good night sleep, we were ready for breakfast- we both had omelette, safe to say it's never going to be the same as Jodhpur! :'( All omelettes are now like a gluten free pancake!
After a stroll around the city palace we decided to take some shade from the midday heat and had a massage. We chilled for a couple of hours (still catching up on sleep) before dinner time.
A friend from home had given us some tips on where to go in Udaipur, so we strolled over to the other side of the lake. We found an amazing restaurant, really unusual. It prides itself on its healthy, vegan, vegetarian, low oil, gluten free menu. Finally, salad and vegetables, yummy!!!! Another bottle of whiskey purchased and another hangover approaching. Safe to say we blew our budget today- Brad is not happy with me, shock, hahaha! I still have my fags though! :p
Hungover we were! We again walked and explored but the effort needed was too much, so we sat for an hour, in the shade, in a lakeside cafe!
Time for coach 2 of 3, surely it can only get better...
Let's hope Mumbai is a welcome change to Rajastan, as we're Rajed out and ready for the Mumbai lady boys to gaze at! Hehe
