1 bus and 2 trains got us to Zafra, Extremadura. We were trying to get to the nearby village of Feria, where Cuch´s mum has a house. After what seemed like hours of wandering around with heavy bags and empty stomaches we discovered the bus we were looking for didnt exist and eventually got a taxi to 6 Miraflores, which was to be our home for the next week and a half.
Theres not that much to tell to be honest. Feria doesnt have that much going on. They do have quite a few festivals there and in the summer theres quite alot of people out and about but whilst we were there it was not a happening place.
Theres a market on wednesdays and saturdays which has two fruit and veg stalls. Theres several bars selling ridiculously cheap drinks (a beer for 50 cents) but each one was only occupied by the bar man, one bloke at the bar and another sitting in the corner. There was a small group of young people who sat outside the church at nigh, smoking to look cool, but the rest of the population were mostly over 60.
We ate alot, we drank a fair bit, we played endless games of cards, we slept.
The highlights were a visit to the 15th century Castle at the top of the hill, a visit to Zafra on a sunny day (we managed to get a lift into town with friends of Cuch´s mum) where we had some nicce tapas, going for dinner at Tim and Rachel´s (the friends who drove us to town), the friendly locals and seeing man walk his donkey with his dog standing on its back.
Its really quite hard to sum up our time there because we didnt do much but we still had a good time and we really got to relax.
