cordoba did not start well. bad news im afraid - we shant be uploading any pictures of buenos aires or the iguazu falls. aislinns camera got left on the bus and we spent half of our first day in cordoba hassling the bus compant to try and get it back but to no avail. we´re gutted. that kind of put a dampner on our first day here.
the hostel we´re staying is quite cool. it feels a bit like a house and the staff are really lovely. theres a kitchen and a living room with dvds and stuff. we went for lunch on the first day with an american guy and an irish girl from the hostel and sampled an argentine favourite, locro. i don think its a bowler sparrow travels favourite. its a meat stew but when they say meat it could be any bit of animal. in this case it was alot of little slices of tube which i guess were intestines of some sort. nice.
our second day was mostly spent doing nothing. having travelled for 21 hours to get here we dicovered that all the attractions of cordoba apart from a few churches, lie outside the city. that would have involved us getting back on a bus for 2 hours to get anywhere really worth visiting. so we stayed in and watched pulp fiction and actually cooked a meal for the first time since arriving in argentina. its so tempting to eat out when its so cheap and you dont have long in a place but we´re beginning to realise that thats not entirely financially viable in the long term. in the afternoon we went to a not very exciting market and a not very exciting fun fair. i don think cordoba is really the highlight of this trip. we did have a yummy barbeque with everyone at the hostel last night however and aislinn muched away on a large plate of beef (not for the first time either!) argentina has converted her to red meat eating.
today we leave to mendoza, the heart of argentinias wine production. yummy.
