The Australian East Coast is just a marvel. You find a place that you think is nirvana only to go to the next place and find it as good if not better
The coast changes once south of the Tweed River into classic long golden sandy beaches with rocky headlands often bordered with national parks or small fishing/holiday/retirement settlements. Nearly all are close to deserted and the sky is bluer than you can imagine and there is little or no wind at this time of year. It is visually spectacular
The Yamba area has always held an interest for Susie in particular. I think it is something to do with the seafood she so fond of. It has a long harbour wall entrance to the huge Clarence River with sandy surf beaches and several coves beside the mouth. The pub with arguably the best view in Australia, the Pacific hotel. A great golf course, plenty of fishing spots and of course there is this fabulous weather
When the south of Australia cops a strong cold front with the winds and snow etc as it did on the weekend if and when it gets here it just produces clear, cool and calm conditions. Sure it was cold last night (5c) and the caravan heater got a workout but the days are still about 20c and inspiring
Yesterday we watched several pods of whales frolicking around off the headland in Angourie. Frequently breaching and fluking and putting on quite a show. A game of golf and dinner at the bowls club rounded off a great day. All within a short walk of the waterfront caravan park
Today we took a drive around the Clarence River area through the sugar cane fields crossing many creeks visiting Iluka and and the quaint river town of Maclean before a long beach walk and dinner at the local Mexican restaurant
Tommorow we head another 3 hours further south to South West Rocks via lunch in the Coffs Harbour area with friends

John Kirwin Sounds marvellous. Excellent write up, Mike.
Helen It does sound wonderful. Susie must be getting the hang of golf by now. (Or does she do a lot of reading while you play?!) That would be me!
